Yuval Gotlibovich (Israel), viola

Born in Israel, Yuval Gotlibovich holds first prizes in national and international competitions, including: First Prize and the Fridolin Rusch Award at the 8th International Lionel Tertis Viola Competition, and First Prize at the 2004 “Aviv” Competitions in Israel.

He has performed concerts throughout Europe, the United States, and Israel, playing with such orchestras as the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Tel Aviv Soloists Ensemble, the Texas Festival Orchestra, and the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra . He has collaborated with world renowned artists such as: Menachem Pressler, Marc Andre Haemlin, George Pludmacher, Nubuko Imai, Natalia Gutman, and Janos Starker.

His concerts can be heard worldwide on international radio networks. He has appeared in recital in such venues as: Wigmore Hall in London, and the Kennedy Center in Washington. His live soundtrack for the 1919 movie The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari¨ for viola and cello premiered at the “Are More” Festival in Vigo, Spain, and was later performed at the Haifa International Film Festival.

He has collaborated with various ensembles including Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt, Ensemble Callisto in Chicago, and others; and with Composers such as Krzysztof Penderecki, Henri Dutilleux, György Kurtág, and Sofia Gubaudullina. Composers Alexandre Eisenberg and Justin Merritt dedicated viola concertos to him, which he premiered. Gotlibovich was the youngest professor on the faculty of Indiana University from 2004 to 2008. Currently, he is a Professor in Concervatorio della Svizzera Italiana, Lugano and Assistant Professor at the Escuela Superior de Musica, Reina Sofia, Madrid.
